TALES FROM HAPPY
FISHERMEN |

I have had a Kentiki for the last three
years – an absolutely bloody marvellous machine. I have been kontiki
long-lining for 40 years mostly in the Wellington and West Coast
areas from Paraparaumu to Levin. In my retirement I have fished for
eight years in Opotiki.
I have made six contikis that are motorised and twice as many wind
powered ones. I have trialled all the latest brands on the market
and can’t find one to beat the Kentiki.
I catch a lot of fish. I have had a full line
four times - everyone on the beach had fish to take home.
Kentiki has served me well with no breakdowns.
Maintenance is easy. Steering is brilliant. The winch brake
is the best.

Hi Ken and Dot
It is now six years since I purchased my Kentiki from you and
without a doubt it has been the best piece of fishing gear I have
ever owned - it has probably been to sea approx 300 times and has
never missed a beat.
A mate got one and ended up selling his boat (didn’t need it
anymore).
The whole family enjoy getting down to the beach to help set the
line and bring in the fish. We usually have a picnic lunch or dinner
on the beach while the Kentiki is fishing - too easy.
Whenever at the beach we live on fresh fish, give heaps away and
often have to throw back surplus fish we have caught while still
alive as we bring the line in.
Keep up the good work

Bruce and I have had a Kentiki and
winch for about six years now. It was a dream after having homebuilt
kontikis. We started with a kite, then a sail one (or two) but
waiting for the wind or Bruce to build another model was not good
for fishing. We seemed to spend most of the time in the shed, with
an odd day’s fishing thrown in here and there. We first saw the
Kentiki when we went camping at Matata. The people in the caravan
next to us had one, and with envy we watched them use theirs. They
put us in touch with Ken and Dot and the rest is history. We have
caught many fish, won a few competitions and made some lovely
friends. All through the little orange machine we call
“Thirty-three”. The winch also has saved our legs a lot of work.
